Chris Avery - Chief Executive Officer & President

Chris Avery has served on the James Avery Craftsman Board of Directors since 1989.  In 1991, Chris left his profession as Chief of Anesthesia at Sid Peterson Memorial Hospital in Kerrville to become Chief Operating Officer at James Avery and work closely with his father, James Avery.  He was promoted to CEO of the company in 2007 upon his father’s retirement in May of that year.

Chris grew up in Kerrville, Texas and received his bachelor’s degree in biology from Stephen F. Austin State University in 1976.  Chris later received his medical degree from The University of Texas Medical School of San Antonio in 1981.  Chris later became board certified and practiced anesthesiology for several years, and he remains a licensed physician today.

Chris lives in Fredericksburg, Texas with his wife of 27 years and they have three children.  He and his wife are involved with many charitable activities, and he is the current Chairman of the Board for Hill Country Memorial Hospital in Fredericksburg.

In his spare time, Chris enjoys flying, golf, music and reading.
